WEB Design
About Lesson

Creating content for the Internet is very different from preparing for print. That’s why it is necessary to set all the necessary parameters correctly before starting work. This is done in Photoshop as follows.

To begin with, it is necessary to launch the New function from the File menu and display a frame with parameters related to the new document. If you then select the Web option from the Preset list, it will not be difficult for you to determine the dimensions of your future site. On this occasion, I will choose a width of 960 and a height of 690 pixels. Of course, if it turns out that this is not enough, new dimensions can easily be entered. The parameter related to the color mode (RGB) and the palette (8 Bits) should not be changed for now, and the same applies to the background (Background Contents). The Advanced option allows you to change some of the advanced parameters, but I will not deal with it at this time, but I will close this frame with OK and thus display a new document.

Everything I have done so far should be saved somewhere. That’s why I will start the Save As function from the File menu, enter the name of the new file and place it on the Desktop. Before I move on to something more specific, it wouldn’t be a bad idea to include some of the auxiliary functions. This primarily refers to the so-called rulers, measuring tapes that will be displayed along the left and upper edge of the screen. To this end, it is enough to launch the Rulers function from the View menu and activate their display. Since for precise positioning of the elements it is necessary that this division be expressed in screen points, pixels, I will right-click on this part of the screen and select the appropriate option from the auxiliary menu. If you want the auxiliary grid to appear on the screen, you can activate it by selecting the Grid option. I don’t need it at the moment, so I will turn it off and instead use the so-called guides. Since I want to place them in the appropriate position, I will first display the Info panel and then place an arrow on one of the rulers. If after that I press the left mouse button and move down, an auxiliary line will appear on the screen, so it will not be difficult for me to place it in the desired place. I can track its exact position in this panel and correct it if necessary. In the same way, an unlimited number of such elements can be placed, while to remove them, it is necessary to apply the opposite procedure. This means that you must first activate the Pick Tool and then select the excess line and drag it to the corresponding edge.

Since you have seen how to set the basic parameters in this lesson, I believe that it will not be difficult for you to prepare your first website yourself.
